For the past two years, Venezuela has been engulfed in a political crisis that has severely impacted the country. The continued political unrest followed by the COVID-19 pandemic has created a severe humanitarian crisis, directly impacting the Venezuelan people. With the continuous deterioration of the economy and basic social services, over 9.4 million Venezuelans are moderately to severely malnourished and over 90% of households reported not being able to buy enough food to feed their families. In addition to the food and medicine shortages, diseases such as measles, diphtheria, and malaria, have spread due to the collapse of Venezuela’s health system. From ongoing violence to poverty and famine, it’s heartbreaking to see how this has affected the country.
Le Club & UnidosxVenezuela
The continuous political unrest in Venezuela weighs heavy on our mind and our hearts. We feel a deep responsibility to spread awareness and shed light on the injustices Venezuela and its people have continued to suffer through. However, in a moment of darkness, we aim to be a source of light and support to those who so desperately need it. We turned to our friends at UnidosXVenezuela to bring attention to this crisis while also taking action to positively impact the people of Venezuela. Founded in 2016, Unidos por Venezuela is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuelans in need. Working alongside Venezuelan orphanages, hospitals and churches, they help provide food and medicine to children, the elderly and those in dire need of assistance. With the holidays right around the corner, we knew the perfect cause to focus on.
